Curriculum

Integration

The school follows the “Schools Act’’ with CAPS guidance to avoid any unfair discrimination. The Constitution clearly guides how the school should approach multi-faiths in educational sectors. Although the school is based on Christian values, but it does not mean that we as the school do not admit or accept a learner who is not a Christian. In that the school has an approach that it ensures no discrimination against anyone’s faith, therefore upholding the Constitutional values of South Africa.

As the school, we follow the CAPS curriculum and the Department of Basic Education regulations in terms of teaching and learning. To make sure that our teachers are following the proper teaching plan, each teacher follows an annual teaching plan (ATP) as per Department of Basic Education guidelines for that particular subject. This is strictly monitored by the HoD’s and the Head of Academics. As much as we have Head of Department, in 2021 monitoring by the School Management Team members were introduced (for Grade 7 to 12) where each teacher is grouped under a School Management Team member to form small groups. The School Management Team members can continuously monitor teaching and learning that is happening as per the Department of Basic Education guideline and annual teaching plan. The School Management Team do class visits and report back to the Deputy Principal, and the Deputy to the Principal. Most of the class visits are tabled and a few which are unannounced.
We also have a survey that we give to the learners and parents which enables them to air their views with regards to teaching and learning. We have an open-door policy where parents can come to the school if they are not satisfied with what they see in the books of their kids at home. We also allow parent-teacher consultations.
